Before my rebuild of my 55 started, I had a round bar welded into the frame for mounting the shocks. It has been replaced with the square mounting bar from Danchuck that is positioned higher than where the round bar was. The shocks I was using are now too short to make the connection. With the car setting on the ground, I have 19" between the upper and lower mounting points for the shock. Can anyone advise the length that would work or let me know a procedure for determining the lenght I need to purchase?
As always, Thanks in advance.
Jody

The stock length shocks will work with the aftermarket shock bars, because the upper mounting is approximately in the same location as the original mount on the body. The stock shocks are 12 3/4" compressed and 21 1/2" extended. Here's a link to a list of shocks that can be used. .... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1326406,parttype,7556 Othere brands can be crossed to the Monroe part numbers. Most auto parts stores have some of them in stock. I'm happy with the Monroe Sense-trac #5803.

Thanks again Don. I'll review the link and hopefully be buying the shocks this weekend.
