This is a first for us:
One of our customers bought a nice ($25,000.) street rod truck then moved to Abilene, Texas area. Within his first 30 days of being there he took his truck to a small local car show. A few days after the show he saw a male subject hanging around his front gate so he got his pistol and went up to the gate and asked the fellow if he could help him. The guy wanted to know if he was new to the area and was he at a car show the past weekend and our customer said yes to both. The fellow at the gate then showed our customer a badge and he was in law enforcement. He advised he didn't want to talk anymore out there on the road and be seen there so he asked our customer to meet him at a location in town. It took a badge and a gate code for them to enter a building. Inside the building was many, many classic, street rod, show cars, etc. The officer advised our customer that his truck had a contract on it, a contract to be stolen! All the cars in the building belonged to folks that kept their cars there and would come check them out when they wanted to use them. There has been so many thefts of our cars up there law enforcement rents you a space to keep your car protected. I think he told us it was between 20 & 30 a month to keep a vehicle there. The customer doesn't want to worry about his truck all the time so he is going to just sell it.
In the eleven years we have been in the classic car insurance we have had several stolen claims, we have never had a vehicle recovered!

I never heard of anything like that before. What a world we live in! I sure would hate to have to go to a warehouse to check out my 55 and go for a drive!
