interesting story I came across...
The guys are Chad Reynolds, of Allen, TX, Ricky Shircel, of Milwaukee, Harley Bowers, of Morgan Hill, CA and Kris Michael also of Allen, TX. A bunch of friends on the Power Tour – not too unusual, but what they’re driving is. Chad, owner of Slightly Wicked Kustoms (www.slightlywickedkustoms.com), recently found himself with an opportunity to buy two seemingly unrelated cars; a '56 Bel Air wagon and a wrecked '94 Caprice cop car. After some chin scratching, Chad fired up the welder and mated the two together for what you see here – a '50s body on a '90s chassis and running gear.
"The '56 body came outta a barn near Ennis, TX," Chad says, "and the cop car I bought at an auction in Plano, TX. It had been hit in the rear but the running gear and engine were in good shape."
This Bel Air, dubbed "Trusty Rusty", features a LT1 with an 4L60E tranny and an Air Ride System which, as Ricky put it, "rides as good as a rental car." The guys made some runs at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Monday. How’d Trusty Rusty do? 16.29 at 86. Not bad for a marriage between two cars born almost 40 years apart.
