Children's Book Run Rally
A charity road rally benefiting the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
08 December 2018
The rally will start at the Pack Automotive Museum, 2070 Diplomat Dr, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. While waiting to register, browse the hundreds of gorgeous old and/or significant cars in the Pack collection. This museum is not open to the public, so don't miss this opportunity!
Two people who can read (driver and navigator) are required in each rally car, but passengers are welcome. Any 4-wheel, street-legal vehicle may compete.
We are not raising money for Scottish Rite, but collecting children's books for them in time for Christmas. Each person in the car should contribute two books, for any age child. Last year we collected over 200 books for them. And don't give them to me at the start museum, but keep them in your car to give in-person to a representative of the hospital, who will meet you at a specified location on the rally route.
This is not a speed event, but a fun drive on all paved roads. You will have some tasks to perform along the way, which will earn you points toward a trophy. Any three cars can form a "Team" for a little extra competition. These Teams are made up of three or more cars of the same make. GPS and smart phones are welcome, but you can do just fine without them.
You must preregister at http://msreg.com/CBR18 in order to enter. The entry fee is $30 per car (SCCA members get a $5 discount). More information will be found at the above website. Registration at the Pack Automotive Museum opens at 9:30am, with the first car leaving at 11:01am. The finish will be at a Red Lobster just 4.5 miles from the start as the crow flies.

How long is the rally, miles or time from start? Surely it's more than 4.5 miles? |

That's the kind of analysis that shows you should do well in the rally!
It is about 50 miles, and about 3 hours.
See you there! |

I usually tell you about the interesting cars that have entered so far in this spot, but more important as winter approaches is the predicted weather. They are saying 60 degrees and sunny for rally day! Perfect December rally weather. Why don't you join us? |

They are saying mid-50 degrees and sunny for rally day! New roads and reasonable December rally weather, along with some interesting cars means a fun day, so go to http://msreg.com/CBR18 to preregister. Sixteen cars have already entered, including BMW, Jaguar, Cadillac, Camaro, Corvette, Porsche, Volvo, Mini, a four-car Team of Toyotas, and more. For the puns alone, you ought to join us. |
