Dallas Area Classic Chevy Club
General Meeting Minutes, 3/12/05

The meeting was held at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson. David Graves, President called the meeting to order at 3:15 PM. About twenty-five members and prospective members were in attendance. .

Old Business:

1) David discussed the 2005 Autorama display. We had a very successful show and received a great deal of news coverage to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ’55 Chevy. We had over 7 minutes of TV coverage on local Channel 8. We talked to lots of interested people and passed out many information flyers for today’s show. There were seven cars in the club display and 10 total club cars in the Autorama.

2) The 2005 Fort Worth Rod and Custom show had 4 total club cars on display, 3 in the club display. Again, lot’s of good exposure for the club.

3) David gave a brief Treasurer’s report as Dean Schmidt was in Colorado. The club had roughly $2600 in income in 2004 and spent roughly $2600 for club expenses in 2004. Expenses included, club decals, higher than normal printing and postage expenses from the beginning of the year when we were attempting to re-start the club and had no funds from the previous year, and normal, newsletter printing and postage, and a few awards for the quarterly meetings/Lone Star Convention.

New Business:

1) The Board of Directors meeting was held at Bill and Diane Preston’s house in January. David reported that the calendar was set with minor adjustments. Club shirts were selected.

2) Reliable Chevrolet has signed on as a club sponsor. Reliable also sponsored the club display at the Autorama. They are providing storage space for club equipment. They have announced that they will be provide discounts to members for parts, new cars and used cars. The club will have meetings in March and September at the dealership and Reliable and DACC will help promote each other in TV, radio, and print. We had a great turnout at today’s show with over 50 ‘55/’56’/’57 Chevrolets in the lot. David introduced and thanked General Sales Manager Jeff Power.

3) Dean Schmidt is heading up the effort for the possible open car show at the Gaylord Texan Resort. The show is tentatively scheduled for July. More info to come as it becomes available. The summer cruise to Texoma to meet the OK City club may need to be rescheduled due to the Gaylord show.

4) The club dyno challenge will be held Sunday June 12th at Velocity Performance in Carrollton.

5) May 13-15 is the Lone Star Convention in Victoria.

6) Spring cruise to Dublin is scheduled for Sunday May 1st.

7) The April club activity will be at the Texas Motorplex in conjunction with the Texas Muscle Car Challenge. This will be a drag racing event held on Sunday April 10th. Participants should check the website for this series for rules/requirements – www.TMCCC.org.

8) Awards were announced for the Reliable show. Reliable employees voted for one each 1955, 1956, 1957, Corvette, and truck. ’55 winner was Rockett of Irving, ’56 winner was Sparrow of Frisco, ’57 winner was Dean Schmidt of Plano and the Corvette winner was Bill Preston of Flower Mound. The truck winner left before the awards were announced.

9) A number of questions and comments were discussed during the open part of the meeting. Parts availability, show class categories, chrome services etc.

10) David showed the club shirt choices and invited everyone to come up and join the club and purchase club items

11) The meeting was called closed at 4:00PM
