Dallas Area Classic Chevy Club
General Meeting Minutes, 6/11/05

The meeting was held at Speedtek in Haltom City. David Graves, President called the meeting to order at 11:30 PM. About twenty members and prospective members were in attendance. Ten members were signed up to put their classics on the dynamometer.

Old Business:

1) The show at Reliable Chevrolet in March was a great success. Fifty to seventy-five cars were in attendance. Hot dogs and drinks had to be replenished more than once. The management at Reliable was very happy with the results.

2) The April drag racing event at Texas Motorplex in Ennis was fun. Although there was some rain, it cleared off and members were able to run. Sonny Poteet was the most successful. The Muscle Car Challenge continues, there will be a Test and Tune at Denton Raceway on Friday 17 June, followed by a points race on Sunday 26 June.

3) The May cruise to the Dr Pepper plant in Dublin was great fun. We had awesome weather and 9 cars participated.

4) Dean Schmidt talked about the Lone Star event in Victoria. DACC will be hosting the 2006 Lone Star. Dean said it was a great event and people will be happy to come to Dallas for the 2006 event. In the 23 years of the Lone Star Conventions DACC has never hosted it.

5) Dean gave the Treasurer’s report. The club account has a balance of $3518. We have no outstanding bills and our largest expense is publishing the monthly newsletter. We currently have 88 registered members. The treasurer’s report is available on the internet by contacting Dean.

New Business:

1) Bill Preston advised the membership present that CC Classic Air will give a 5% rebate to the club for work done on member’s cars.

2) DACC will host the 2006 Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention. Tentative dates are 5/5, 5/6, 5/7 2006. Dean has a bid from the shops at Legacy and the Tollway. He expects another bid from the shops in Addison. A website has been set up at LoneStarChevys.com . More info will be posted as it becomes available. We would like to set the date and site in the next 30 to 45 days.

3) Kevin Brown has set up a new chat board on the club website. Please log in and make use of it.

4) Stoked Out Specialties has agreed to be a club sponsor again this year. We will tentatively schedule the November general meeting and show there.

5) Reliable Chevrolet will continue to discount vehicles for DACC members including the Employee Price promotion currently available. See Jeff Power and get $250 additional discounted.

6) Bill and Diane Preston passed out flyers for the July 10 club cruise to Texoma. We will be departing from the Brahm’s in Lewisville and meeting the OKC club at Pelican’s Landing.

7) The August activity and show will be at the Christian Classic Cruiser’s show at the Birdville ISD complex on Precinct Line Road in Haltom City on August 20.

8) The September show will be at Reliable Chevrolet. Reliable has agreed to sponsor cash awards of $100 for First Place and $75 for Second Place for 5 classes at that show (55,56,57,Corvette, Truck). We’ll be sure to have a registration table for club info and membership.

9) The floor was opened to discussion. A member suggested that we publish or encourage a shop weekend to help members with work they may be doing on their classics. That could be available on the chat board.

10) The meeting was called closed at 11:50
