There is a car show the last weekend in October, Halloween weekend, that I have gone to for the past 10 years and this year it does not conflict with any DACC event, Fall Foliage Tour.
KUSTOM KEMPS of AMERICA is based out of Missiouri and holds several events in several states. Denison Texas is the location for Texas.
These are 'custom cars' as you saw in the 50's, chopped, lowered, sectioned and some times many cars combined to make one. Cars have been there from California and even New York one year. Most are the old leadsled 50's Mecury's & Ford's. A rather low key event,100 cars, and this year's activities are: ROCK & ROLL JAMBOREE, Live entertainment at the Rialto theatre just for our show, Friday night Cruise on Main Street, a Dragster starts the cruise, Show & Shine Saturday, RUN WHAT-U-BRUNG at the Old Perrion Air Force Base. Live entertainment during the day. Sunday the awards with a visit from the Mayor & city council of Dennison..

Alan,
Dianne & I have always enjoyed it. It's been fancy sometime and other times just gather in a room, pull up a lawn chair and enjoy. They had the Platters there 2 years ago and Cher[Impersonator] at the Rialto rented out. There is a local guy, Fort Worth' that's worth the trip one very funny guy doing the 'Streak' live band that plays many car songs, some I haven't heard. The dragster going down Main street is pretty cool too!
Tim & family always enjoyed it even winning dance contest.
Get a room & enjoy the weekend.
See cars guys from other parts of the country.
Jerry Titus, President, brother who passed away last year built the famoius VOODOO custom car. George Barris is usually there as well as others who are in the custom group.
They'll have details later.
P.S. Poodle Shirts & Duck Tails optional! |
