DACC GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
11-06-2010
We met at the Sheraton Grand Hotel DFW Airport. This will be the site of
the 29th Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention. The hotel has been recently
remodeled. The club had a good attendance and all enjoyed a great buffet
dinner prepared by the hotel.
David Graves, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. After a
brief welcome and opening comment, he asked that the Board members and
all members to introduce themselves.
Board members present were David Graves, Greg Hedum, Larry Epperson,
Alan Strong, Dan Bunch and George Johnson. Dean Schmidt was out of
town on business.
Elections were next on the agenda and Larry Epperson called for
nominations from the floor for the four positions up for election: Vice
President –Greg Hedum, Treasurer- Dean Schmidt, and Board member
George Johnson. No additional nominations were made and all retained their
positions for the next two years. Dan Bunch relinquished his board position
and Marvin Cowden was nominated and elected for that position for the
upcoming two year term.
OLD BUSINESS
David discussed old business and a review of the activities of the past year.
The year 2009 ended with the annual ramp building and a Christmas party at
the Rollows’ home. In 2010 we had the following club events –
January – We met at Café DuLuxe in Denton.
February – Dallas Autorama had an 8 car DACC display.
March- – Fort Worth MotoRama we had an all Tri Five Convertible
display.
– Spring Classic Chevy Show at sponsor Reliable Chevrolet in
Richardson. A record 78+ cars enjoyed a perfect day.
– Our club was also invited for the first time to have a display
at the Dallas Auto Show for new cars and we had a special 11
car display of ’55-’57 Chevys.
April – Poker Run, Vickie Penney planned our poker run with 13
cars participating that took us around the southern Dallas
County area.
May – Road trip to San Antonio for Lone Star Classic Chevy
Convention hosted by Alamo Classic Chevy. We had sixteen
Tri Five Chevys attend from DACC.
June – Dyno Challenge at Speedtex Performance in Haltom City
July – Fourth of July parade in Arlington.
August – Hot August Nights in North Richland Hills. Everyone
enjoyed a great dinner at Joe’s Pasta. Hot August Night proved
to be 105 degrees at 9pm!
September – Fall Classic Chevy Show at sponsor Reliable Chevrolet in
Richardson, good turnout with 50 ’55-’57 Chevys attending.
October – DACC Tri-Five Display at the State Fair of Texas
– Drive-In Movie Night at Brazos Drive-In in Granbury.
– Annual Fall Foliage Tour in Branson, Missouri.
November – DACC Annual Meeting with elections of Officers
Several Members took part in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge--the
TMCCC events are where Club Members compete against other clubs in
drag racing.
David reported that he expects Reliable Chevrolet, Wilson’s Auto Repair
and Heritage Insurance will renew their sponsorship of our club in 2011.
This is great news and we look forward to hopefully new sponsors to be
announced later.
Our membership to date is 165, a slight increase from this time last year.
David has a goal of 200 members for DACC and encouraged everyone to
invite other Tri Five owners to join the club.
David gave a brief financial report in Dean’s absence and reported that we
currently have $17,000.00 in the bank. These funds will be available for our
Lone Star Convention in May. We hope to add additional sponsors help
fund this event as well.
NEW BUSINESS
Our Christmas Party will be held again at the Rollows’ home where we look
forward to another great event with gracious hosts. Bring a ‘fun’ gift for the
exchanging and a food dish organized by first initial of your last name.
Details will follow in the next newsletter. And again DACC will volunteer
our time for the December Handicap Ramp event headed up by Greg Hedum
working through Dallas Ramps Project.
The 2011 Club Activity Schedule is in process. If you have an activity that
you would like the club to consider, please contact David Along with the
normal schedule of events there is consideration to have a meeting at one of
the TMCCC drag racing events in April and a meeting at Frosty’s Drive In
in Denton.
We are planning on having a ‘Vendor Space’ at the Pate Swap Meet in April
of 2011. Everyone in the club can sell parts and have a place to rest and
hang out. This will also be timely in promoting our upcoming Lone Star 29
Convention. Bill Preston will be coordinating this activity.
A revival of an old program that has not been active is starting up again.
WRENCHES – This is a program where we assist other members that have
maintenance or restoration needs on their Tri-Fives and in turn can enjoy the
same when you are in need. Don Andre and Bill Preston will be the primary
contacts for this program. Let us know and those that can help will show up
at your place to give assistance or advice where needed.
A big part of our website is the FEATURE CAR where you tell us about
your car with a picture in the newsletter. If your car has not been featured
yet, please contact David Graves to get your car in the lineup. We are also
looking for news stories that you may have concerning your ‘other’ car that
you may have that is not a Tri Five Chevy.
2011 LONE STAR 29 CONVENTION –
There are numerous jobs that will need volunteers for when we host this big
event next May. Watch for more announcements as we continue to develop
our plans and please contact David and volunteer the use of your many
talents and make this a memorable convention!
