DACC GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
11-19-2011

Our annual meeting was held at the Texas Museum of Automotive History
in Fair Park. We met at 1:30 pm at the Old Mill Restaurant for great meals
compliments of our club, then a short walk to the Museum. Our meeting was well attended and the food and museum tour were enjoyed by all.

David Graves, President, called the meeting to order. After a brief welcome and opening comment, he asked that the Board and all members to introduce themselves.

Board members present were David Graves, Greg Hedum, Dean Schmidt, Larry Epperson, Alan Strong, George Johnson and Marvin Cowden.

Elections were next on the agenda and Larry Epperson called for
nominations from the floor for the three positions up for election:
President – David Graves; Secretary – Larry Epperson; Board Member –
Alan Strong. No additional nominations were made and all will retain their
position for the next two years. Treasurer- Dean Schmidt has relocated to
the Texas Hill Country and has relinquished his position. Billie Walker was
nominated and elected to hold that position to fulfill the remainder of Dean’s term.

OLD BUSINESS

The 2011 activities were as follows:
January - We met at the Mr. Frosty’s Drive In located in Denton where
we also assisted in the filming of a music video for the
nostalgia band ‘Curb Service’.
February - Dallas Autorama - DACC had 8 cars in our club display.
March - Spring Classic Chevy at Reliable Chevrolet in
Richardson. There was a great turnout of Tri-Five cars and all
enjoyed perfect weather.
April - DACC had a club event for the Texas Muscle Car Club
Challenge drag racing series event at North Star Dragway in
Denton
- DACC rented a space at the Pate Swap Meet to sell spare car
parts and to promote our 29th Annual Lone Star Convention.
May - The 29TH Annual LONE STAR CLASSIC CHEVY
CONVENTION presented by our club. This was a great event
full of activities and tours. A record 250+ registrations made it
the largest to date and one of the most memorable.
June - DACC Tech Meeting at our club sponsor Wilson Auto Repair
in Garland.
July - 37th Annual Fort Worth Motorama Car Show - DACC had 8
cars in the club display.
- National Collector Car Appreciation Day Cruise In was hosted
by DACC at Keller’s Drive In in Dallas.
August - Hot August Nights in North Richland Hills. Everyone enjoyed
good food at Joe’s Pasta before the show. Hot August Night
seems to be living up to its name as it was 105 last year and 108
degrees at 9 PM this year.
September - Fall Classic Chevy Show at Sponsor - Reliable Chevrolet in
Richardson.
October - Tri-Five Chevy display at the State Fair of Texas
- Drive-In Movie Night at the Brazos Drive In in Granbury.
- Annual Fall Foliage Tour this year in Bartlesville, Okla.
November - DACC Annual Meeting with elections of Officers

A number of members took part in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge
drag racing series where club members compete against other car club
members in drag racing. Team DACC took 3rd Place in Group 3A for 2011 - Congratulations to all who participated.

Our membership to date is 170. This time in 2010 we had 165 members, in 2009 161. Through adding and loosing members throughout the year, we seem to slowly grow each year. We are still trying to reach our goal of 200 members.

David gave a brief financial report and reported that we currently have just over $8,000 in the bank. Our largest expense of the year was just under $10,000 that we spent on Lone Star ‘29’. Our club’s contribution and the Lone Star event came in on budget largely thanks to the sponsors that contributed greatly to the cost of the event that was just over $50,000. We want to acknowledge these sponsors with a GREAT BIG THANK YOU who were major contributors to providing the largest share of the funds thatwere required to put on Lone Star ‘29’. These sponsors were – Danchuk Manufacturing, Painless Performance, Texas Museum Of Automotive History, Wilson Auto Repair, Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau, Heritage Insurance presented by Grundy Worldwide, Classic Chevy Connection, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Authentic Automotive, Ciadella Interiors, Reliable Chevrolet, Houston Classic Chevy Club, Eckler’s Classic Chevy and English Color and Supply. And a very special thanks to all the DACC members who contributed large and small to hosting the best Lone Star ever!

NEW BUSINESS

The 30th annual Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention will be hosted by the Central Texas Classic Chevy Club May 4, 5 & 6, 2012. The convention will be held in San Marcos, Texas and additional details will be in our newsletter as information is received. Complete registration and hotel information can be found at www.LoneStarChevys.com. Our club will be leaving that Friday May 4th to cruise together to the convention down the ‘scenic route’. One very special event will be a stop at Dean and Audrey Schmidt’s new home in Spicewood for a visit.

David said that the 2012 calendar is looking similar as the 2011 calendar.
He asked any members who might have an activity they would like to
include to please contact him for consideration on next year’s calendar of
club activities.

One suggestion, made by Dan Bunch was to have another Poker Run.
Vickie Penny will coordinate it if it makes the calendar for 2012.

David expressed good feelings that Reliable Chevrolet, Wilson Auto Repair and Heritage Insurance will renew their sponsorship of our club going into 2012. Reliable has been with us for 6 years, Wilson Auto Repair for 5 years and Heritage Insurance for 4 years. We thank them for their support of our club and we look forward to continuing our relationship with each of these companies. We look forward to adding new sponsors in the future to this great list.

The location of this years Christmas Party has not been finalized at this time so be on the lookout in the weekly email for the location and time. This is a great time to have fun, food and fellowship with your club members. Details will follow in the next newsletter. Prior to the party, DACC will again volunteer our time for the Handicap Ramp event headed up by Greg Hedum working through Dallas Ramps Projects.

Remember the DACC WRENCHES group – This is a program where we
assist members that have maintenance or restoration needs on their ’55-’57 Chevys and in turn can enjoy the same when you are in need. Don Andre & Bill Preston are the primary contacts for this program. Contact them for help or if you want to give assistance or advice when the next WRENCHES meeting takes place.
P.S. WRENCHES…an acronym for Wacky Retirees Enjoying Neat Chevys,
Hot Rods, Engines & Stuff!

A big part of our website and monthly newsletter is the FEATURE CAR
article where you tell us about your car with pictures. If your car has not
been featured yet, please contact David Graves to get involved with this.
We are also looking for stories concerning your ‘Other Car’ that you have
that is not a Tri-Five Chevy. Also ‘Under Construction’ stories about your
’55-’57 Chevy that you may be building.

We have started a ‘REMEMBER WHEN’ in our monthly newsletter where
members can submit a youthful picture of themselves hopefully with a car in the background for members to ‘guess who’ prior to revealing the answer. Dig any out that you may have and get them to David.

Diane Preston gave a brief report on this year Fall Foliage tour in Oklahoma and the 2012 fall Foliage tour that will be in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The date will be determined after the release of the Razorbacks football schedule. DACC will be the host club for the Fall Foliage tour in 2013. Diane asked for ideas for activities and a location for the tour if anyone has any.

David thanked the Museum for their hospitality and encouraged club
members to donate their cash to the museum as that is a big part of it’s
annual funding. It is a Non Profit 501(c)(3) organization so contributions
are tax deductible. David dismissed the meeting for 2011. Members
enjoyed touring the great collection of cars in the museum (that includes a DACC display of ’55-’57 Chevys!).
