I'll be there...but due to the forecast temps my car has been renamed the "Oven Box Delivery". Probably will have the windows cracked during the runs...whada ya think?
BTW, I'll have an ice chest of cold cut foods for lunch for those attending.
Bring your shade awnings. _________________ "A Classic Car is Not Aerodynamic" |

Here's a short report on the drag race event at the Texas MotorPlex on the thread's weekend. We hunkered in early for a warm day and set up
a 10 X 20 foot sun-blocker shade (it stops the sun but not the rain) for the attendees. At this event we opened up our club intelligencia to
use the weather information to estimate car performance for the first time. Lot's of weather/atmospheric discussions occurred. We even
postered the data on a white board in our pit area constantly updating it through real time and internet data.
We had 5 attendees from the club. Here's the results. Larry R. arrived with his blown, beautiful blue '57 only to suffer fuel injection
issues on his new installation that could not be track-side solved. Consequently he did not make the first round. Then, first round, the
club points leader in the street class for the DC club with his '56 Chevy went out first round. By admission, Orange56, made a stripe
decision error (finish line) to loose the race, to his account. We have all done that. That was 1st round. For 2nd round James C. caught
a bad light and chased his compettitor to loose. For Jim B. and T. W., they were gliding through the competition with a series of
competitor's errors at the start/finish and some good driving. By round 3 the competition became serious and the club pair both ran too
hard only to loose close races. So.......the discussion is the club member's were finisher's in the top half of the field. It was a tough
day and we showed our stuff even in the 98F heat racing temperatures.
So with this race behind us we're headed to Ardmore, OK in less than 3 weeks to continue the points chase and maybe a personal class win.
I encourage further reports and embelishments to the posting. This stuff is neither high tech nor expensive....but it is fun!! Join us. _________________ "A Classic Car is Not Aerodynamic"

Very well done on the report. I am looking forward to Ardmore and from the talk looks that we will have several members there. Any more takers. |
