Hello,
New to this site, thanks for accepting my membership.
I am restoring my 56 Chevy 210 that I have owned since 1969.
It's been in the weeds for a long time, but now it resides in my new shop on the lift for the rest of my days.
Last time it was on the road, it had a 1969 Corvette 427 out of a friends wrecked car. Bad for him, good for me. I still have the engine and 4 speed, so that is probably what I will use.
My question is which brake booster/master cylinder assembly would you recommend for a big block in a 56?
I already bought a guys disc brake assemblies off his 55 that he is doing something different with.
Thanks in advance,
Rick Neighbors |

I'm partial to the hydra-boost setup if you are serious about stopping. Seems a lot of people are using them, especially if you have an aftermarket cam that drops your vacuum level below what a v-booster requires.

Marv,
Do you have any idea of the cost difference?
I'm going to build my 427 again, but not so radical this time.

Marv,
But they do make a nice booster/mstcyl kit for regular disc/drum applications. Rick |

The latest addition of Hot Rod magazine has a very good article on converting a car to hydra-boost. You might want to check it out.
I'm not positive but you might be able use hydra-boost without power steering but you certainly would need a P/S pump.
Calling CPP would verify whether or not you must have power steering box.
Good Luck!

Well, the kit has a line that goes to the power steering pump, so I assumed that means you need power steering.

Marv,
I tried to respond to your email, but it kicked back as undeliverable.
