2014 DACC Annual Meeting
November 15, 2014 Site – Rio Lerma Restaurant, Forney, TX
Opening
David Graves, President, called the meeting to order.
1) After a brief welcome and opening comment, he asked that the Board members and all members/visitors to introduce themselves.
2) Board members present were David Graves, Greg Hedum, Tom Walker, Larry Epperson, Alan Strong, and Marvin Cowden.
3) Hold Elections - Secretary Larry Epperson conducted elections for 4 positions up for election and the following were on the ballot – Vice President-Greg Hedum, Treasurer-Tom Walker, Board Member-Marvin Cowden and Steve Pratt was nominated as a Board Member replacing John Rogers. All nominees were reelected for another two year term.
Old Business
1) Review of this year’s events – Highlights included one monthly event and the following were some of our best attended – January - Frosty’s in Denton
February – Reliable Spring Classic Chevy Show; May – Lone Star 32 Convention in Houston, Texas; June – Chevy Cruise and Poker Run; July – National Collector Car Appreciation Day at Keller’s Drive-in; August – Hot Texas Nights in Hurst, Texas; September – Drive-In Movie Night in Fort Worth; October – Fall Foliage Tour in Oklahoma and Cruising for Calories to Clifton, Texas including a Car Museum, Car Show and Fall Festival.
2) DACC club Drag Racers did well in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge series coming in 4th place out of 15 clubs, improvement from 5th in 2013. Individually Jim Baugham finished 4th place in Super Pro; William Walker finished 3rd in Electronics; James Carson finished 7th in Pro; Ken Burton finished 9th in Super. In the Southwest Heritage Racing Assoc series Jim Baughan took 5th in Old School Electronics and 2nd Place in Old School No Electronics, David Graves’ son Chris drove their nostalgia dragster to 2nd place in Nostalgia Eliminator 1 class and daughter in law Tera took 1st place.
3) Membership Status Nov 2009-161; Nov 2010-165; Nov 2011-170;
Nov 2012-167; Nov 2013-168 and 2014-154; our club is the largest exclusive ’55-’57 Chevy club in Texas and likely the world.
4) Club sponsor status – Reliable will rejoin in February making 10 years, and Heritage Insurance renews mid ’15 which would make 5 years
5) Financial Report – Tom Walker, Treasurer gave the following report:
The club account on Nov.1, 2013 was $7491.00; balance Oct 31, 2014 was $7697.82. Club over the past 12 months has had board approved costs such as meals at two events, Autorama display, club apparel; PC & Web related cost, and the newsletter in the amount of $6,840.13.
6) DACC-WRENCHES - one project in 2014- wiring John Yoby’s 1955 Chevy
7) There was no additional old business
New Business
1) December – Greg Hedum spoke about the handicap Ramp build scheduled for December 13 and encouraged participation; Larry Epperson spoke about the first TRI-FIVE NATIONAL Convention to be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky August 2015 presented by Woody’s Hot Rods and Danchuk
2) 2015 Club Schedule being developed – will be a close duplicate of 2014 calendar with highlights being the 10th Annual Spring Classic Chevy Show at Reliable Saturday April 11th, Lone Star 33 to be in San Antonio on May 15-17, and the 22nd Fall Foliage Tour in October. Larry Epperson spoke about the Tri-Five National Convention to be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky August 2015. 3) Encourage becoming involved in our WRENCHES program, either as a volunteer or person needing work, encourage participation in the Muscle Car Club events, need monthly Feature Cars if you have not been featured yet, along with Under Construction stories, Other Car stories (non ’55-’57 Chevy) and Photos from the Past of you and a neat car/story
