Just replaced the coil springs on my 57. The springs I used are a direct replacement[?] for stock MOOG 656.

The 656 appear to be 1/2" taller than the stock springs removed so they were installed with no modifications.

Starting ride height measured to bumper - 9-1/4"
after replacing wit new springs unmodified - 11-1/4"

So, I pulled them out and cut one complete coil off +1/2"

New ride height complete is 9-3/4"

P.S.
I am completely worn out!!!

Why did you change them? Seems like a lot of work to raise it 1/2".

The goal was not to raise or lower the ride height
I was in hope to get a firmer ride and like all
Gear head wantabe's everything thing else is new
So why not? Just something to do and I didn't think
It would be that big a deal! Wrong
I actually thought one of the springs had collapsed a little
When I changed the control arms

I've used the 1957 Chevy shop manual procedure to check the ride height. It gives a height range at all 4 points of the car. There is an acceptable height range for all points. You just need a a level spot and ruler to perform the ride height check.
