DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth

The DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth (“Show”) sponsored by the Dallas Fort Worth Metropolitan New Car Dealers Association (“DFWNCDA”) contacted DACC club with an invitation to show our member’s Tri-Five Classic Chevys along with the new cars from all the local automakers’ dealerships.

Five DACC members sign up to show their gleaming half decade new cars. Diane and Bill Preston showed their 1957 black Corvette, George Johnson his 1956 twilight-turquoise Nomad-Bel Air, Joe Ortega his white 57 Chevy Bel Air-hardtop, Marvin Cowden his “Big Red” 1955 Chevy Bel Air and Glen South with his red 1957-210. All participants meet on Wednesday, November 18th at the FW Convention Center to position their car in the display area for the show that started Thursday, November 19th. While in the process of setting up the DACC display Marvin Cowden proved that some F@#d Rustang owners do not have a sense of humor. Apparently a Rustand was blocking the path to our display. Marvin called out to the owner, “Do you need a push?” The comment was only appreciated by Chevy owners. When the floor was cleared of patrons around 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 22nd, DACC members moved-out to head home.

For more than 50 years, the DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth has been a “must see” event where consumers are treated to the ideal opportunity to “kick some tires” and compare pricing of vehicles from almost every manufacturer, all under one roof. Auto Show attendees also were able to shop in the Allied Exhibit Area.

There was also a special “Ride & Drive” option in which drivers can test drive more than 20 vehicles through the streets of downtown Fort Worth (but not the parade route).
“There really is no better way to check out a new car or truck than to actually take it out on the road,” said Jim Hardick, 2015 DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth chairman.

Thanks to Alan Strong for being the Show Coordinator and to all the guys and gal for freely giving their precious time to show their great nostalgic Tri-Fives to a much appreciative crowd.

Pictures of the DACC display and a picture of Luke Skywalker’s Speeder he drove on the desert planet Tatooine.
