It's coming up May 19-20 in San Marcos hosted by our friends in the Central Texas Classic Chevy Club, host hotel Embassy Suites is set up for a special discount room rate of $119 per night and that rate is good until April 21st so get your room reservations done before that because the regular rate is much higher!

DACC will caravan slow and down the backroads to San Marcos on Friday May 19th so plan to join us for that! Details soon on the route and other plans for that.

And here is the schedule of events for the weekend -

Things kick off Friday with registration beginning at 3 pm. That evening we’ll cruise to Dick’s Classic Car Garage Automobile Museum for a cookout (burgers and hotdogs). The cookout and admission to the museum is free.

Saturday continues registration from 8 to 11 am with a Show-N Shine during those same hours. Followed by a really fun cruise through the Texas Hill Country to a working scale railroad, the Wimberley, Blanco and Southern Railway. This miniature, but rideable train meanders through 50 acres of woodland and it has been reserved for our exclusive use that day.

Saturday evening’s Awards Banquet will feature a plated dinner along with awards in several categories. Although this is not a” point judged” event, we will give awards for Best paint, Best engine, Best Interior etc., plus People’s Choice and Club awards.

You will not have to pay for any extra meals during the convention. A free complete breakfast including a made-to-your-order omelet will be served each morning, sandwiches and various munchies in the hospitality suite, the Friday evening cookout and the Saturday evening banquet are all included with registration.

If you missed the cut off to reserve your room at the Embassy Suites in San Marcos, here is some good news! The date has been extended to May 5th! Regular room rate is over $200 per night but the negotiated Lone Star 35 rate is $119 so don't miss this chance if you still need a room. Call the hotel at 512 392-6450 and tell them you want the rate for the Lone Star Convention, reserve your room today!

The caravan to San Marcos leaves from Alvarado (I-35W and Hwy 67) on Friday May 19th at 10AM sharp, heading over to Hwy 281, stopping in Hamilton for lunch, down through Marble Falls, over to Dripping Springs and on into San Marcos before the 4:30 departure from the hotel for the evenings first event and meal at Dick Classic Car Museum. Also along with the previous mentioned events for the weekend, there will be a special 'Manager's Reception' for Lone Star hotel guests with free wine, beer and mixed drinks on Saturday from 5-7 just before the Awards Banquet. There will be club pick awards (DACC will present one for our 'Favorite Tri Five Chevy'), and also awards for Best Paint, Best Interior, People's Choice, Sponsor Awards and more. The Show N Shine on Saturday morning is not a judged event, display only similar to our Spring Show we host each year at Reliable Chevrolet. Hope to have a great DACC turnout for Lone Star XXXV!

This weekend will be wet, but there will still be a group of Tri Five Chevys heading towards San Marcos on Friday! As club member Don Andre says, 'I have waterproof paint' so I assume we all do! Hope you will join us on the adventure to San Marcos and the big plans for the weekend in spite of a little rain!
