'Blown Inheritance' has been sidelined almost all year in 2018 for various reasons. Last year about mid season. our tranny failed and the decision was made to call it a year. Over the winter, fresh paint, a fresh tranny and a rebuilt rear end were on the agenda. All was accomplished, and with finding a crack in the ring gear it was the right call on the rear end rebuild. But with other distractions I didn't get the dragster in running condition until now. We had actually planned to race in Wichita Falls a couple of weeks ago but a pesky leaky fuel pump derailed those plans. That fuel pump has been addressed and our plans of racing at the SHRA Championship Finals this weekend in Ferris was derailed by another rainy weekend (that event rescheduled for Nov 10th in Denton). Despite that, the new track in Ferris was open for Test N Tune on Thursday night so we loaded up to make some shakedown runs on all the new parts to make sure we will be ready for the Nov 10th event. We got 3 passes in that night, ran a best of 153 MPH in the 1/8 mile, but had issues on each run with tire shake. Solid suspension cars are not forgiving on the launch and that is part of the challenge with our type of car. Our fellow SHRA competitor Jason O'Neill in the Bad Behaviour altered was also testing that night, and unfortunately had an accident that destroyed his car, but luckily he walked away with only a separated shoulder (photo at bottom).

We will be ready for the November race if the weather cuts us some slack and maybe we will be competitive at that event. Below are some shots from photog bud Randy Curtis from the Thursday night test session in Ferris.

Well the rained out SHRA Finals finally got in the books, last Saturday Nov 10th and Blown Inheritance made it's one and only appearance on the schedule. It turned out to be a good weekend for a number of reasons.

The weather was cold, the track cold and the power available was at a maximum as the adjusted altitude was a negative number! thanks to cool dry air. We came with nothing but wanting to make a few runs, but it turned into more than that. We could never hook up and Chris had to pedal it on every run but he is pretty darn good with that so with plenty of power our plan was just to go with what we had. Our slicks are old and need to be replaced but that wasn't on the agenda this year so we made the best of what we had. We ran ok but not good, but better than the guy in the other lane until the final when it wasn't a guy but it was Chris' wife Tera. Tera was having a frankly unbelievable day, taking the top qualify position, winning the Shootout that took place just before eliminations and pocketing $1000 for that, and with a win in the final round over Chris she would take the SHRA Championship in the NE1 class. Needless to say she had us covered and Chris had no chance in the final but with her win she won the championship by 1 POINT!, so it's a good thing he didn't beat her! Tera and car owner Darrell Walden pocketed $2700 in winnings and bonuses that day! We had fun which is why we do this and next year we will have new slicks and hopefully be able to compete in all the events and give that championship a run.

Pics below from the Finals of Chris in Blown Inheritance, his wife Tera in the Walden Power Equipment Special, club member Ken Burton's '56 was in attendance along with a '55 Nomad and last but by no means least, club member Jim Baughan's Chevy Coupe who amazingly and narrowly earned his 3rd SHRA Old School No Electronics Championship!!!!
