When I installed disc brakes on my '57 I purchased a proportioning valve assembly from Master Power Brakes. (They are sold by many other vendors, CCI, East Coast Chevy, Stainless Steel Breakes, and so on). It came with the lines to hook it to the master cylinder. I then made my own brake lines using the straight lines available at most parts houses to connect the proportioning valve to the wheels. They way I did it, was to run a new line to each front wheel and tie in the existing line to the rear wheels. If memory serves me, the line that goes to the rear wheels from the proportioning valve is larger than the lines to each front wheel. You may need to get an adapter to hook the line from the valve to the existing line to the rear wheels. I ran the lines to the right front wheel and the rear wheels acrosss the car under the front of the engine. I don't know if pre-bent lines are available, but it wouldn't suprpise me if they were. I would strongly recommend using a proportioning valve. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. Larry Rollow, DACC tech advisor |
