Who's going to the Texas Thaw and drags this weekend in Denton? If the weather cooperates, I might consider it. I haven't raced since Lone Star last year and dying to try again.

Well, it's happened again! This time while I'm getting ready Tim,son, called to tell me his work truck blew up. My brother had given me his truck before he passed away so I have to go to Tyler early saturday to get his truck for Tim to use for awhile. Don't want him to miss anywork.
Anyway I'd like for the event to get 'rained-out till next week but that's very selfish so I hope everybody goes and has a great time.
We'll get together next time!
P.S.
I have an extra anode from JCW, David's comment, for your aluminum radiator if you need one.

The first drag race and out door show event of the year is in the bag.

There were 4 drag race classes. I was in c/gas. The old 57 ran constant 9:55 ET. I won second in my class in heads up competition and went out with a red light in the first round of bracket eliminator.

Club members in attendance were Dennis G, John R, David G, Charlie
R and myself. Seems like I'm forgetting some one. Rolling Eyes

John won in the Car Show.

Dennis won his Class in Heads up and went a couple rounds in Top Bracket Eliminator.

John went a couple of rounds in the heads up competition before he was slain by one of his own club members Twisted Evil

I took about 50 photos. When I get them uploaded I will post a link.

Dennis was filmed with multiple cameras during his racing today. I can not wait to see the finished product.

Alan

WOW!!! I guess that pretty much sums it up!

Thanks a million for the pictures and congratulations to you and all the club participants !!

I certainly wish that I could have been there. Looked like there was plenty of activities for all. A lot of tri-five and a few others too!

Thank You Again

Larry

P.S.
The Denton strip certainly looks like it has had some great improvements since the last time I was out there. Met the new ownerat AutoRama and he was excited about 2008 season.

How did the new rear end work? I assume no problem since you did so well.

great photos Alan !

this was a fun event, quite a mix of cars but heavily loaded with Tri Five Chevys! .. here are a few pictures I took ..

Pits were full of racers and show cars!

Alan Strong performed well, making it to the finals where he was the runner up in C/Gas Eliminator

new DACC member Frank Hernandez was unable to run due to oil pressure issues

John Rush had a great day in Denton with a semi final finish in C/Gas and a winner in the show car competition!

Dennis Gormley was the big winner from the DACC group with this class win in this all '55 Chevy final of B/Gas

Here are some misc shots from the Texas Thaw

These pictures certainly aren't helping my attitude any!! I guess I didn't really realize what the event was. Great photos of great looking cars. Looked like it was a lot of fun and a very impressive turn-out!!

David, how did your son do and where are his pictures?

Larry ..

my son's plans to drive a injected Fuel Altered were postponed, the car owner was unable to make this event ..

of course, he took many photos and he will get those uploaded in the next day or so .. when he does I will advise here ..

and yep it was a unique and neat event, look for it to grow from this first event into a even bigger deal in the future!

The rear end has held up for 12 runs and 200 miles so far. Knock on wood she'll last for quite a while. I am still in a trial and error phase on using the new rear but it seem to help me hook up much better that before. Also, I'm not as embarrassed doing a burn out now that I can spin both wheels.
