If you have never been to a Woodward Dream Cruise, highly suggest you go to one in your lifetime (put in on the Bucket List!). 40,000 Hot Rods, 1.4Million people, 11 miles of fresh pavement. It does not get any better than this. You will see every car you ever dreamed about, in every color it was offered.

Pretty good endosement from someone who has been there. My Bucket list is pretty full but One more, especially one like this, needs to be added. Went to Indy last year so just a few more miles to Detroit.

Is it a cruise up/down the road all day then a car show? How long does it last? Take a week just to see 40K cars!

The official day of the event is the third Saturday in August. But un-officially it starts the Sunday prior and goes all week. Every night you can be assured to see people lining the streets (some with water to wet the street an enable cumulous cloud burn outs) to watch the cars. But on THE Saturday the police divert normal traffic on Woodward to use the outer lanes while letting the folks with Chrome use the two lanes closest to the curb. It goes all day until 9pm when police then divert all cars off Woodward for 30min, signafying the end of the cruise and getting everyone home safe. Cars will either cruise Woodward or you will see "gangs" of cars parked in parking lots. Every car club you can imagine is represented: Chevys, Corvettes, Mopars, PoJacs, Mustangs, Hearse, Saleen, etc. Saw a Bugatti this year - a $40M car and one of 6 made, cruise Woodward this year. See it to believe it.
