Dallas Area Classic Chevy Club
General Meeting Minutes, 9/17/05


The meeting was held at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson. David Graves, President called the meeting to order at 2:40 PM. About fifty members and prospective members were in attendance. David had club officers introduce themselves. Officers in attendance: David Graves, Marvin Johnson, John Rush, Bill Preston, Larry Rollow, Greg Hedum.

David asked for visitors to stand and introduce themselves.

Old Business:

1) The June Dyno Day meeting at Speedtek in Haltom City was a success.
2) The July Lake Texoma Cruise was well attended.
3) The August Christian Classic Cruisers show was well attended. Bill and Marvin presented David with the Club Participation Award DACC received at this show.

New Business:

1) Lone Star Convention XXIV will be held May 5/6/7 2006. DACC members are interviewing hotels for site. Jim Conklin is coordinating the hotel selection. Current candidates include Marriott-Las Colinas, Sheraton SR114 @ DFW, and Marriott Westlake. Other site may be considered before final selection. Final selection should be completed in the next month or so. Dean Schmidt is event coordinator and is forming committees now. Dean will be asking for assistance as this develops. David has been negotiating for a special display vehicle for the hotel lobby. He talked to GM about the 1955 Smokey Yunick stock car. It would be available for about $6000 in transportation fees. Also in discussions with the owner of the 1955 “Two Lane Blacktop” car and the management of Popular Hot Rodding magazines “Project X” ‘57. The convention will use the CCI show judging guidelines - 1000 point judging and multiple classes based on modifications from stock. Activities may include a cruise, breakfast, and drag racing event. The judged show will be at the chosen hotel on Saturday of the event.
2) The October DACC event will be the Drive-In cruise on Saturday Oct. 8th. Greg Hedum coordinating. Current expectation is admission to be $15 and hoping for 30 to 45 cars.
3) The Fall Oklahoma Foliage Tour will be on the weekend of the 23rd. Bill Preston is coordinating. If you plan on attending let Bill know ASAP and get your hotel reservations in right away. Plan is to leave from the intersection of US 75 and SR 380 Friday Oct 21 at noon.
4) November’s DACC meeting will be held at Stoked Out Specialties in Rockwall 2nd Sunday in November. Club elections will be held. Greg Hedum will coordinate election. Positions up for election- President, Secretary, Board Member
5) Special thanks to Jeff Power, Dave Anderson and Reliable Chevrolet for hosting the event today.
6) Upcoming events: Southwest Swap meet at Ballpark in Arlington, Good Guys show Oct 1-2 (a number of members plan on attending and parking in Classic Chevy Corral). ‘Cruising the Coast’ canceled this year due to hurricane damage.

Open Floor:
1) NHRA National event at Ennis next weekend. Cacklefest and reunion included
2) Texas Muscle Car Challenge @ Kennedale 9/18 and Oct. 23rd at Ennis.

The Reliable Chevrolet award picks were announced. Reliable sponsored cash awards of $100 for First Place and $75 for Second Place for 5 classes (55, 56, 57, Corvette, Truck). Winners were:
1955: Sam Collins (1st) Stu Jacobs (2nd)
1956: James Sparrow (1st) Don Clark (2nd)
1957: Tom Blackburn (1st) Carl Mitcham (2nd)
Truck: Doyle Irick (1st) (2nd) none
Corvette: none attended

The meeting was called closed at 3:10 PM
