Team DACC fielded five members at the first Texas Muscle Car Challenge event of 2013 at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, Texas. Members in attendance were: James Carson-black 57, Jim Baughan-blue 36?, Kennith Burton-blue 56, Alan Strong 2009 Chrysler 300 and Tom Walker-black 56 delivery. Even with overcast skies, the team enjoyed the day's mild temperatures and slight cross wind blowing across the track. The day, although not perfect, was a vast improvement over last weekend's rain out date.
The team began the day with a slow start, having four of the five cars competing showing losses in the first round of competition. Only Kennith won. advancing to the simi finals before the competition forced him place his blue, big block '56 on the trailer.
The group chose James and Jim to represent the team by competing in the “Race of Champions.” The ROC is a consultation bracket for racers to compete in after being eliminated early in their chosen elimination bracket. James advanced to the second round and Jim, the day's standout, won all his races becoming the “Race of Champions'” top Eliminator.
The event's fellowship and competition was extremely pleasant. We invite all members to attend the next TMCC event that will be March 24, 2013 at Ennis, Texas. Also, we highly recommend that you plan on attending DACC's April club event “A Day at the Drags” on April 7, 2013 held at North Star Dragway at Denton, Texas for racing and a picnic. For more information check out the club's event calendar's tab on our web page at www.dallasclassicchevys.com.
Not a DACC member? Come to any club event anyway and become a member of DACC.
Alan
