Just edited 11Feb06.
The NHRA drag strip safety requirements for seat belts in cars slower than 11.99 seconds in the quarter mile and slower than 7.49 seconds in the eighth mile is a seat lap belt.
As a matter of interest the original style lap belts are Okay for our club usage events at a drag strip in the stocker style tri-fives. I've had no difficulty passing the safety tech with my '57 here in the Dallas area during the drag events at the various tracks this past year.
Another item, a helmet is required at times somewhat slower. Faster than 13.99 seconds in the quarter and 8.59 in the eighth mile a helmet has to be worn. _________________ "A Classic Car is Not Aerodynamic" |
