Hello Jody: Welcome to DACC. My name is Larry Rollow and I am one of the tech advisors to the club. The converson to disc brakes is one of the best things you can do for your tri-five. I have stock spindles on my car with CCI disc brake brakcets with '69-'72 rotors and calipers. They do move the wheel out approximately 7/8ths of an inch per side. I use Monte Carlo 7 inch wide rally wheels and have experienced no clearance problems. The 2 inch dropped spindles sold by CCI do not move the wheel out. There are other manufacturers that make disc brake kits, but I do not have info whether they move the tires out or not. Some are: Heidts, Danchuk, Earl Williams, Master Power Brakes and more, you could contcat them and ask them about their disc brake kits. It just so happens I have a set of CCI dropped spindles I purchased for my car, installed them, then removed them as it made my headers too close to the ground. I had Heddman headers and they dropped very low below the frame horns. Many other tri-fives use the dropped spindles without problems, but due to my headers I decided not to use them. So they were never run, just used as a mock up. CCI dropped spindles do not move the tires out. Hope this helps.
