The next Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge drag race is this Sunday at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, just off the Mansfield Highway.
For all of us this is the time change weekend and for the rest the gates open at 09:00.
I had to drop back to a small block motor for the remainder of this year's racing. Looks like the old 350 with mufflers is good for 8.8 seconds at about 72 mph in the 1/8th mile in my 3900 pound '57.
I kinda like the quite with the mufflers....maybe I should install a CD player for listening pleasure while drag racing? _________________ "A Classic Car is Not Aerodynamic" |

Who's interested in supporting this event? I'll try to get there early and save parking space for us to share close parking. Weather looks okay. _________________ "A Classic Car is Not Aerodynamic" |

I ran really good the first three races but was sadly I was runner up of the second elimination.
My first time trial was perfect. I shifted at 4000 rpm and ran a 9.55. I raced a new style Mustang and beat him.
The second time trial was good but a little slower.
I won the first elimination. My competition was a guy in an old Nova. He got off first. I was to learn later that he had red lighted. I chased him the whole track and almost caught him. In the process, I broke out a little but since he red lighted, I won.
The next race I raced a late model red Trans Am. I spun the tire whole length of the track in every gear while in the right lane. I thought the clutch was slipping because it didn't feel like wheel spin, but it was.
In the "Race of Champions" I spun again! and peddled the car against a white Firebird. Spinning the tire made me loose the race even thought I had a .511 reaction time, my best ever! I tried Charlie’s trick of leaving when the second to the last yellow light goes out instead of when the last yellow comes on.
Dennis, Tom, Blake and Charlie R were there with me. Blake lost in the first round of both eliminations in Tom’s car. Charlie lost in the first round of eliminations. He raced for Torque Central _________________ Texas Classic Chevy Experience
